The annual report of the Ombudsman for 2024 was presented today to the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Nikita Kaklamanis, the head of the Independent Authority, Mr. Andreas Pottakis.

Valuing the actions and initiatives of the Ombudsman for the past year, the report points out that “Phenomena and judgments that have been recorded in previous years, both internationally and domestically, continue to be particularly concerned with a large part of the population. “. As underlined, ‘one of the main issues that citizens are called upon to face is that precision in goods and services, which creates intense insecurity in their living. “

For this reason, the Independent Authority ‘He prioritized awareness and information raising actions to reach the citizens and vulnerable groups that face difficulties and need help, as well as the public services with which he works to resolve issues of the mentioned issues.“

At the same time, it is emphasized that the Ombudsman has worked intensively with the ultimate objective of his interventions in various fields “the good administration, the compliance with legality and as far as possible in cases of malnutrition”.

Particular reference to the report is made to the Authority’s initiativesFor the protection of human rights “particularly” in the management of the refugee issue, in the problems of immigrants, in the rights of people with disabilities and the living conditions of prisoners in detention entities“

Finally, given that tourism is a key pillar of the national economy, the citizen’s lawyer developed in 2024 an important special exhibition entitled “Sustainable Tourism Development: Framework, Infrastructure, Resources” in which key issues are being developed on tourism development and its viability in our country.

The Speaker of the House, Mr. Nikitas Kaklamanis, receiving the report, referred to the key role of the Ombudsman who performs effectively with his interventions and initiatives.

The President of Parliament will forward the annual report to the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, as well as to the Special Standing Committee on Institutions and Transparency, in order to discuss and analyze it at a joint meeting in the presence of the Ombudsman.
