(Reuters) – The New York Stock Exchange opened on Friday in decline while fears about the American economy in the face of the prospect of a trade war continue to weigh on the main indices.

In the first exchanges, the Dow Jones index loses 314.35 points, or 0.75%, at 41,638.97 points and the Standard & Poor’s 500, wider, fell from 0.76% to 5.619.65 points.

The Nasdaq Composite cedes 0.97%, or 171.73 points, to 17,519.89 points.

Investors’ concerns about potential economic benefits of a world trade war continue to weigh on the US markets while many companies are coming back to decrease in the face of macroeconomic uncertainty.

Fedex was the latest to lower his profit forecasts by action, citing his lack of confidence in the future of the world economy. The title loses 11%.

Nike lost 7.6% after warning Thursday that its sales could drop more than expected in the fourth quarter.

Micron Technology yields 5.3% after anticipating a gross margin lower than expectations in the third quarter.
