Mr. Pierrakakis, toured the AADE Operational Center and was informed by Mr. Pitsilis the General Managers of the Authority on a series of issues
The first meeting today was held by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis with the Commander of the Independent Public Revenue Authority George Pitsilis.
Mr. Pierrakakis, accompanied by Deputy Minister George Kotsiras and the Secretary General of Tax Policy Mary Flelas, toured the AADE’s state -of -the -art operational center and were informed by Mr. Pitsilis, the General Directors of the Authority. Among them, the improved starting rates in the submission of tax returns, the organizational and digital transformation of AADE and the course of important projects such as the new citizen service call center, which is expected to be launched by the summer of 2025.
Subsequently, a closed meeting was held with the Commander of the Authority George Pitsilis.
The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, in his introductory position, hired the fight against tax evasion as a key government priority.
“The work done in AADE is truly exemplary and I want to congratulate the head of the Independent Authority, Mr. George Pitsilis, and his associates on their successes in the fight against tax evasion. The fight against tax evasion is won day by day, through a combination, human will and new technological means. AADE utilizes both, with high training staff and with all modern tools, such as artificial intelligence and the new state -of -the -art operational center, a diamond for the Greek State. Tax evasion is not just lost revenue, tax evasion is missed opportunities for the country.
I read, Mr. Commanders, that you are planning 184,000 checks this year. This is a great act, this is also a great message, mainly against our tax consistent fellow citizens, who feel great injustice. Tax evasion undermines social justice and deprives valuable resources from education, health and infrastructure.
Last year’s revenue from tax evasion reduction, which came from the expansion of electronic transactions and the connection of cash registers to POS, exceeded 2 billion euros. I can assure you that as tax evasion decreases, so will taxes decrease. AADE has many new tools for 2025, such as the digital clientele and the digital shipping note. We will be here to help whatever you needi.
For his part, AADE Governor George Pitsilis noted:
“We welcome today to our headquarters the new Minister of National Economy and Finance and the Deputy Minister with great joy. With great personal joy, because with the minister we have worked in the recent past in very adverse conditions. Mr Minister, I recall the time of Covid-19 and the digitization jump that the country had to do and in which we worked very closely.
Today, we will have the opportunity to have a full discussion on the strategic and operational planning of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, the great challenges we have ahead of us for tackling tax evasion and smuggling, and of course the service of citizens and businesses and businesses.
Personally, I am very happy that a group of young people with a lot of appetite and experience at the same time is here to assist in the work of the Authority, which is very important for our national goals. The recent upgrade of the country by Moody’s shows how important it is to address tax evasion in the country’s positive evaluation and the acquisition of investment grade“
