As you may have heard, we will have a new increase in the minimum wage from today. So I would like to explain to you what this growth means in practice and what ultimately remains in the employee’s pocket.
As of today April 1st, yes it is not April April, the minimum wage is € 880 gross. This means 743 euros net per month.
In 2019 the minimum wage was 650 euros. Today it is 880. This corresponds to approximately 3,000 euros net more per year, ie 5 above salaries per year.
This is the fifth consecutive increase in the minimum wage since 2019 and concerns over 1.6 million our fellow citizens. And with the new adjustment, Greece is now in the 11th place at European level in terms of the amount of the minimum wage.
I know well that accuracy is pushing, but every step counts and we will continue to do it. And yes, we will achieve our goal for 950 euros, as we are committed to 2027.
