Extraordinary measures for food security – Deadline for companies to inventory agricultural products

The government wants to raise a double-edged sword against the side effects of the war crisis in Ukraine on the country’s food adequacy, as well as a bridle in the prices of a number of products in the supply chain.

With an amendment submitted to the bill of YPOIK for the new ENFIA, it is given 48-hour inventory deadline to all the undertakings involved and to inform with their stockpiles of raw materials and basic foodstuffs, the special platform of the Ministry of Development which will work for this purpose.

The companies that are active in the chain of production, import, marketing, sale, brokerage, distribution and storage of agricultural products and food in the Greek territory have the obligation to update their available stocks.

The agricultural products and foodstuffs for which the registration of their stocks becomes mandatory within two days from the publication of a Joint Ministerial Decision are the following:

-of raw cereals of all kinds

and in particular: wheat, semolina, rye, barley, oats, corn, edible buckwheat

-flour

and in particular: wheat or rye flour, cereal flour

-vegetable oils (except olive oil)

especially sunflower oil, palm oil and corn oil

-ηλίανθο

– raw materials for the production of fertilizers

-fertilizers

-pet food.

The data is submitted on a special platform of the Ministry of Development and Investment through gov.gr. Companies must submit the quantity of stocks in kilograms for solids, in liters for liquids and in pieces where appropriate, the country of origin of the products, the location of the stocks of storage (exact address) and of course the name and registered office of the company .

According to the regulation, the non-submission or submission of an inaccurate declaration incurs cumulative heavy penalties such as the confiscation of items that have not been declared or have been declared incorrectly and hefty fines from 1,000 to 100,000 euros depending on the gravity of the violation.
