Kyriakos Mitsotakis is currently implementing the same over -taxation policy that he himself denounced as leader of the opposition, PASOK MP Michalis Katrinis said in an interview with ERT’s first program and journalists Vasilis Adamou.

Mr Katrinis pointed out that the tax evasion ruling narrative collapses in front of the facts: “The $ 11.5 billion surplus did not emerge from a miracle, but from the conscious strategy of over -taxing citizens.” Particular emphasis was given to indirect taxation and VAT, which – as he noted – is in the heights and disproportionately burdens the households. “When PASOK proposed a reduction in VAT on basic foodstuffs, the government rejected the proposal, citing loss of revenue. Now we see that not only are public funds in danger, but they are inflated by the surpluses paid by citizens, “he said, leaving clear spikes for a policy that disproportionately burdens the many for the benefit of the few.

Michalis Katrinis estimated that “this year’s Easter was the most expensive of the last few years”, with precision in supermarkets and the energy remaining at particularly high levels, while commenting on yesterday’s announcements by the Prime Minister, Mr Katrinis spoke of “attempting”.

Commenting on the government’s policy on the issue of housing crisis, he described the program of 10,000 subsidized loans from DBA. It also cited data that Greece has the highest increase in housing costs in the European Union and its citizens pay the highest percentage of their income for housing, adding that the Mitsotakis government has failed on the issue of credit expansion, as banks no longer give new mortgages.

Finally, referring to the issue of rents, Michalis Katrinis emphasized that the intention of returning part of the rent to tenants should be accompanied by clear arrangements so as not to increase rents and essentially not to subsidize the owners.
