The Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, sent a letter to the Minister of Environment & Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, the President & Managing Director of ADMIE, Manousos Manousakis, the President of DEDDIE, Konstantinos Alexandrias Necessary measures to meet the energy needs of the Municipality of Athens and avoid black out during this year’s summer season.
The whole letter:
“Honorable Mr Minister,
Honorable gentlemen, Presidents & CEOs,
We have been concerned in recent days the extensive black out in Iberian peninsula countries, which has highlighted – unauthorized causes – deficiencies, shortcomings and possibly errors in the management of the energy network.
In view of the summer season, during which energy consumption in Athens triples due to increased tourist traffic, and as the first data shows this year and a new record of tourists arriving, which are estimated to reach about 10 million, there is a need to ensure smooth operations.
Therefore, it is necessary for all stakeholders to guarantee citizens and visitors of our city their energy and security.
In this context, we ask to be informed about your planning to meet the increased needs of this year‘
