Earlier today, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had contacts with the Prime Minister of Ireland Micheál Martin and the President of the European Council Charles Michel.
The subject of the communications was the coordination and information of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in view of his visit to London and his meeting tomorrow with the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
These were the latest developments in the discussions between the European Commission and the United Kingdom on the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol, following the meeting last Friday between Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and the British Undersecretary of State for EU-UK relations Lord David Frost.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that Greece is fully in line with the EU line on these discussions and is in full solidarity with Ireland and its partners. This message will also convey to Boris Johnson as the first EU leader to visit London at a critical juncture for the Euro-British relations, which must be secured under the relevant agreements, emphasizing that EU unity is not in question and stressing the need to overcome difficulties and finding a consensual solution.
