Will chair at a high -level event on Tuesday, under the presidency of the United Nations Security Council exercised by Greece in May
To Security Council of UN and at High -level event (signature event) of the Greek Presidency for Maritime Security, will be chaired on Tuesday 20 May Kyriakos Mitsotakiswithin the presidency of the Council exercised by Greece in May 2025, as an elected member of the Security Council for the two years 2025-2026.
At the meeting, the prime minister will take a national intervention, which is expected to highlight the threats to maritime security and free navigation, the importance of sea security for international peace and stability and Greece’s role in this area.
Not only the 15 Member States of the Security Council have the possibility of interventions, but the total UN members interested in intervening. International bodies will also attend the meeting.
The meeting will begin with briefers. Based on the design, UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres, President of the Hellenic Shipowners Association, Melina Travlou and others will speak at the central event of the Greek Presidency of the Security Council.
