In high tones was the response of Deputy Foreign Minister Tassos Hatzivasiliou to Kyriakos Velopoulos’ objections to his choice to address Turkish at the hearing during his recent speech at the Greek -Turkish business forum in Constantinople.
“I decided to talk about 20΄΄ in Turkish, to send an indifferent message to the Turks present that it is important and necessary by them to respect good neighborhood and international law. 20΄΄ Turkish in a ten -minute English speech solely to send this undesirable message »Mr Hatzivasiliou said characteristically, responding to Kyriakos Velopoulos’ report that “in diplomatic insights the foreign minister speaks either in English or in Greek”.
Indeed, referring to the hints of the president of the Greek solution that he would never be allowed to become a professor at the Public University of Ankara, such as Mr. Hatzivasiliou, the Deputy Foreign Minister made it clear: “I do not allow anyone to leave implied for my patriotism ».
