The immediate establishment of an inter -party parliamentary mission in the Holy Monastery of St. Catherine of Mount Sinai is requested by an official letter to the Speaker of the House, Nikita Kaklamanis, the President of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance, Socrates Famellos.

The proposal, as Mr Famellos points out, aims to support the Greek Parliament in the right -wing request for full respect for the Egyptian authorities to the Holy Monastery.

“It is an action that goes beyond party lines and serves the need for national alertness and defense of our cultural and religious heritage,” he notes in the letter.

The whole letter:

Recent negative developments in the ownership of the Sinai Monastery, following the Egyptian Court’s ruling, as well as the placement of the Egyptian government limited to safeguarding only the worship regime of the monastery, have raised concern to all Greeks and all Greeks.

Given the catalyst role played by the Monastery of St. Catherine for all Hellenism but also for all Orthodoxy, as the oldest, in operation, Christian Orthodox Monastery, it becomes imperative to support it as possible, given that the government was involved in the government.

Given the importance of the Sinai Monastery, we consider it necessary to organize the Hellenic Parliament Committee of the Hellenic Parliament in the Holy Monastery of Sinai in order to declare the maximum possible support of the Greek Parliament in the law for full respect for the Egyptian Authority.

For all of the above we submit this proposal to you and please for your actions.
