An open letter on the situation in Gaza, was sent by the Israeli ambassador to Greece, Noam Katz.
In his letter he speaks of ‘uwatered ‘humanitarian exclusion‘. He admits that people living in Hamas -controlled areas suffer very much, while arguing that humanitarian aid enters Gaza in sufficient quantities but does not reach the hands of all citizens. ‘MThe reality, Hamas looting and stealing much of the help” And as he points out: ‘War is against the terrorist organization Hama“.
See the letter of the Israeli ambassador posted on x:
“Much is written about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Many in the international community call on Israel to implement a ceasefire, end the supposed “humanitarian exclusion” and allow assistance to the population suffering in Gaza.
This wording is fundamentally incorrect. The war is against the Hamas terrorist organization. People living in Hamas -controlled areas suffer very much and, while humanitarian aid enters Gaza in sufficient quantities, does not reach the hands of all citizens. In fact, Hamas plundes and steals much of the help. Hamas systematically opens a fire against civilians in Gaza trying to get humanitarian commission. In a video, one of the many that proves Hamas’ crimes and is not shown by the media, Hamas shoots civilians trying to get the help she had previously stolen and hidden in one of her warehouses. In addition, the distribution by the UN is underfunded. Hundreds of help trucks enter Gaza, but UN services do not distribute them effectively.
Help does not flow freely because Hamas tries to prevent people from accessing the distribution centers of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), despite the fact that 1.2 million people are already getting help through them.
Many media do not report all this. On the contrary, they reproduce the propaganda of Hamas or not verified allegations. For example, the BBC and the Washington Post were forced to correct their slanderous reports claiming that Israel killed 30 citizens in Gaza trying to get help. But this is not enough. Initial reports form public opinion. We have much higher expectations than the media. If they are not for the events and decide to transmit them, they should say that the information comes from Hamas, that there is no verification and that they are waiting for Israel’s response. It only takes a second to promote a slanderous lie. But it takes time to answer and to verify the facts.
There is a major distinction between responsible journalism and the views of commentators, bloggers or ideological guided voices on social media. In democracies, we trust professional media for the responsible presentation of reality and these means should meet some specifications.
At present, some media undermine this confidence, referring to half truths and fueling misleading emotions.
Israel is criticized, but based on real events. The media have the role of verifying events and asking difficult questions for everyone. Where is Hamas’ condemnation for theft of humanitarian aid? Who is affecting the poor distribution of the humanitarian aid by the UN and its opposition to the aid distributed by GHF, which distinguishes between Hamas terrorists and Gaza residents in need? Where are the questions to European governments about how to uproot Hamas, allowing Gaza residents to have a better future without it? Why two meters and two weights for ISIS and Hamas?
I attach snapshots that are absent from the Greek media, but could be a trigger for reflection-related to how to effectively disarm Hamas, really supporting the people of Gaza.“
