The European Commission’s contribution to the restoration of the temples of Samos affected by the earthquake over 7 Richter, which hit the island on October 30, 2020, is asking with a question to the Commission by New Democracy MEP George Autia.

Five years later, the MEP notes in his question, the faithful are church in rooms formed for this purpose, as the damage to the churches have not been repaired.

The MEP’s question is as follows:

“The earthquake over 7 Richter on the island of Samos in Greece on October 30, 2020, has created huge wounds throughout the island. The churches of the island were particularly affected. A total of 98 temples have been destroyed and many others have suffered serious damage. 5 years have elapsed and the temples have not been restored. The faithful are churched in rooms that have been formed for this purpose as well as in small chapels. It should be noted that rehabilitation studies are ready, according to the Metropolis of Samos.

Based on this data the European Commission is asked:

1. Is it possible to finance the temples to be restored?

2. Can it help the problem solving? ”
