In their joint statement, MP Stefanos Parastatidis, responsible KTE. Education and Socrates Katsikas, Secretary of the Department of Education in the PASOK-Main of Change, commented on the decision of the CoE, which ruled by a majority that under Article 16 of the Constitution, the establishment and operation of foreign private universities in our country are constitutionally tolerated.

“We also recall – also interesting – that PASOK’s choice in the passage of Pierrakakis law was not to fortify it behind the unconstitutionality of the law but to politically deconstruct the New Democracy’s proposal and to submit its own proposal. Consequently, PASOK was not waiting for the CoE’s decision as it has been justified-unfortunately-by reality itself, ”said PASOK-KINAL officials.

They point out that the CoE’s decision cannot legitimize the anarchic landscape and the college of higher education created by Law 5094/24.

“PASOK will continue with the same consistency and completeness of arguments to support the substantial reinforcement of the public university at the same time – through the revision of Article 16 of the Constitution – by the functioning of valid, internationally recognized and truly non -profit foreign universities,” Parliament as well as a detailed table with colleges requested as a non -profit universities.
