New Democracy MEP George Eutias, following repeated European market warnings, that there is unfair competition from outside European Union bodies and electronic platforms that circumvent competition in the market and trade, calls on the EU to intervene immediately before it is late.
G. Eyes’ question to the Commission is as follows:
The European market is flooded with a rapidly escalating economic distortion, which jeopardizes the viability of European business laws. The reason for the threat from large Asian e -commerce platforms with turnover, only 2024, 4.6 billion euros! At the same time, OLAF’s head, Ville Itäläi, clearly stresses that “there are dubious quality and dangerous products, which requires everyone to get involved in order to tackle the problem”.
Despite repeated warnings of the whole European market, industry, trade, etc., the European Union has not implemented immediate and effective measures to restore equitable terms of competition in the field of e -commerce.
Every day of inactivity, it leads to serious and increasing damage to compliant European businesses. The committee must act now without delay. The EU’s weakness for fair market conditions is a direct and direct threat to the internal market, employment and the economy. The end of the 2 euros that the Commission is considering is completely inadequate to deal with the problem.
This data is asked by the European Commission:
- What immediate measures will you take to restore equal competition terms?
- How to ensure the effective imposition of customs security regulations on e -commerce products outside the EU?
- Will you compensate businesses and society for proven damage suffered due to unfair competition?
