Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met yesterday, Friday, June 27, in Paris with the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean -Noel Baros.
The ministers underlined the excellent level of bilateral relations, as well as the very high level of confidence and close economic cooperation between our two countries. In particular, they exchanged views on the implementation of the strategic partnership and co -operation in the field of Civil Protection, as Greece continues to face serious forest fires.
The ministers reiterated the importance of strengthening cooperation at European level, especially in the areas of immigration and defense. They emphasized the need to prioritize the preference of purely European programs. They recalled that EU commercial policy should allow the development of mutually beneficial corporate relationships, while preserving European interests. Regarding the EU-Mercosur Agreement, ministers emphasized the need to improve the Agriculture Agreement Agreement, in particular the importance of safeguarding our food sovereignty.
Ministers exchanged views on international developments. They reiterated the importance of supporting Ukraine and the fight against bypassing sanctions. The ministers welcomed the implementation of the ceasefire between Israel and Iran and invited all parties to comply with the terms of the agreement. They also referred to the process of political transition to Syria, the need to protect all the components of the Syrian people, as well as the active fight against terrorism. They also discussed recent developments in Gaza and Libya.
