Records prizes distributes Wimbledon – from £ 800 in 1968, today’s millions

The Wimbledon tennis tournament officially begins on Monday, with Carlos Alcarath aiming to defend his title to the men and Barbara Kreicikova defending her crown to women.

A total of £ 53.5 million in cash prizes will be awarded to players at Wimbledon 2025.

Finalist – 1.52 million pounds

Semifinal – 775 thousand pounds

Quarter -finals – 400 thousand pounds

Fourth Round – 240 mm pounds

Third Round – 152 mm pounds

Second round – 99 mm pounds

First Round – 66 mm pounds

The winners of the double women and men will receive 680,000 pounds, while the winners in the gross double will win the 135,000 sterling prize.

What is worth mentioning is the fact of how much the prizes increased in time.

According to Wimbledon’s official website, men in 1968 received only 2,000 pounds and women 800 to reach a six -digit number in 1984 (100,000) men – women still stayed below this limit (received 90,000).

In 2010, prizes in both men and women reached 1 million pounds.
