Who was Dimitris Pipergias

Born in Evia Dir the 1951. In 1966 he graduated from Konistron Gymnasium and was hired, after a competition, to PPC as a pupil of craftsman. In 1971 he finished the First Vespers of Athens and in 1975 he completed his studies in Economics.

After the Transition, he is actively involved in the trade union movement and his struggles. Leading the struggles for building the welfare state and the guarantee of trade union freedoms.

He was persecuted for his struggles. More than 150 times it was led to the stool of the accused and not a few times to detention centers.

He was Secretary General of the Association of Graduates and Education PPC (74-77) and EIB PPC (1977-81). Also Vice President, Secretary General and President of GENOP – PPC (1978 – 94) and a member of the GSEE Executive Committee (1982 – 85).

In 1974 he joined PASOK. The first conference is elected a member of his Central Committee. It is deleted in 1985. You are rearranged in PASOK in 1989 and re -elected in 1991 to its Central Committee. In 1993 he was elected a member of the Prefecture of Evia. It is re -elected in the 1996, 2000 and 2004 elections.

He was married to engineer Alexandra Vassilakopoulou and has three sons, Pantelis, Angelos and Jason-Spyros.

“I was sadly informed of the death of former MP Dimitris Pipergia. He was distinguished in the trade union movement for his struggles in building the welfare state and consistently served his fellow citizens of Euboea, who elected him a Member of Parliament in 1993, 1996, 2000 and 2004.

From a young age he was a militant, managing to work and study at the same time. He distinguished him with dignity, morality and consistency in what he did.
