The amendment was tabled in the Ministry of Development’s bill entitled “Reforming the Framework NIA the professional training of public contracts”, which is scheduled to be discussed in the House of Representatives, tomorrow Thursday, July 10, 2025.
The suspension of asylum examination for 3 months was announced by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Following his meeting with the Minister of Migration Policy Thanos Plevris on developments on the expanding front of the migration issue, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his intervention in Parliament during a debate that began in the plenary of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Finance: That “I would like to inform the National Delegation of the decisions taken after a meeting with the relevant ministers on migration. This emergency requires extraordinary treatment measures. The Greek government made the decision to suspend asylum seeking for three months for those arriving in Greece from Africa by floating means. Those immigrants who enter the country illegally will be arrested and held.
Our second decision is to create one, first, and possibly a second permanent closed structure in Crete.
Thirdly, our discussions with Libya continue, but I want to be clear: the Greek Armed Forces are willing to work together to prevent boats from leaving Libya or even when these boats are back from where they started. Let us all be clear the government sends a message of determination: the passage in Greece is closing and this is a message to both their traffickers and potential customers. Our reaction and attitude will be legal and very strict. We will inform the National Delegation about this. “
