Ms. Olga Kefalogiannis, Tourism Minister of Tourism, signed a tourist cooperation protocol with her Italian counterpart, Ms Daniela Santanch. The purpose of the protocol is to update and modernize the 1986 bilateral agreement.
The protocol covers a wide range of cooperation in the areas of know -how, the promotion of new tourism products and the strengthening of specific forms of tourism, such as agrotourism, gastronomic tourism and wine tourism and tourism education and training.
Ms Kefalogiannis stressed that this protocol is a strategic tool for Greek-Italian tourism cooperation, as well as a basis for a more active role of the two countries in promoting a coherent and powerful European strategy for sustainable tourism. As he pointed out, Greece and Italy are two of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and their cooperation is particularly important in the European and international context.
During their meeting, the two ministers also discussed the further expansion and deepening of tourism relations between the two countries, the joint effort to further promote tourism as a political priority within the European Union.
Ms. Kefalogiannis is paying an official visit to Rome, at the official invitation of her Italian counterpart to participate in the Italian-Balkan Tourism forum at ministers where to discuss the strengthening of regional cooperation in tourism and addressing the common challenges.
