The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides said that “The results of the second informal expanded conference on the Cyprus issue are ‘in the right direction’after the end of the meeting that took place in New York, under the UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres and with the participation of the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tataras well as the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Three Guarantees – Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Christodoulides also said that there could be even better results “If there was the necessary political will.”
“We see a small but significant progress, step by step, in the direction of the big goal that, as well as the Secretary General, said is the reopening of the talks and the resolution of the Cyprus problem.”Mr Christodoulides said.
He also said that the next meeting of the two leaders with the UN Secretary -General has already been set on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September, as well as the next expanded meeting shortly afterwards ‘The elections’ in the occupied.
Concerning the opening of the barricades, he said that the Greek Cypriot side accepted the Turkish Cypriot side’s suggestion to open an apple and Lurujina, anticipating the Turkish side.
