A message in Northern Macedonia for complete, consistent and good faith in the Prespa Agreement, including the use of the country’s constitutional name against all (Erga Omnes), was sent by George Gerapetritis during a meeting with his counterpart Timcho Mucunski.

“Thanks to its significant energy infrastructure, Greece can function as an energy hub in Southeast Europe and contribute substantially to Europe’s energy differentiation and durability. Energy-based flagship projects, such as the Greek-North Macedonian interconnector for gas, make a significant contribution to achieving this goal. ” Mr. Gerapetritis noted.
In detail the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
I welcome my colleague, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Northern Macedonia, to his first visit to the Greek Foreign Ministry.
Dear Minister, Dear Timcho,
I am very pleased to welcome you to Athens. We continue with the aim of strengthening the relationships between our two neighboring countries.
We had the opportunity to discuss honestly and exchange views on various issues of mutual interest.
We discussed the level of our bilateral relations and agreed to explore ways to further deepen our cooperation.
Geography unites us. Our peoples stand next to each other, ready to assist and support each other in difficult times, such as in the case of humanitarian disasters. Solidarity actions enhance mutual trust and bring our peoples closer.
In 2020, Greece strongly supported Northern Macedonia’s accession as a full member of NATO. Our desire is to further strengthen our cooperation within the Alliance.
Since 2003 and the approval of the historic agenda of Thessaloniki, Greece has led its efforts to accelerate the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union. We will continue to support the region’s European perspective with the aim of consolidating regional stability and promoting cooperation and prosperity.
I would like to re -emphasize Greece’s support in the European course of Northern Macedonia, on the basis of the heresy and principle of the same performance, with particular emphasis on fundamental.
In this context, I would like to point out the major significance of the full, consistent and good faith in the implementation of the Prespa Agreement, including the use of the country’s constitutional name for all (erga omnes).
Greece and Northern Macedonia have developed a strong partnership in a variety of sectors, such as economy, trade, investment and interconnection in transport and energy sectors. We have agreed to reinforce our mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in these areas, through the “EU Development Plan for the Western Balkans”.
Thanks to its significant energy infrastructure, Greece can function as an energy hub in Southeast Europe and contribute substantially to Europe’s energy differentiation and durability. Energy-based flagship projects, such as the Greek-North Macedonian gas interconnector, contribute significantly to the achievement of this goal.
Dear Minister,
Asymmetric challenges and threats, the protection and maintenance of the rules based on world order of things are imperative.
In this critical juncture characterized by instability, armed conflicts and civil strife, respect for international law is essential. We must remain committed to observing the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and be vigilant.
As an elected member of the United Nations Security Council, Greece works with all Member States, including Northern Macedonia, to achieve the goals of international peace and security.
Dear colleague, dear friend, I look forward to further enhancing our cooperation at both bilateral and polymer levels.
With these thoughts, I would like to welcome you again, dear Timcho, in Athens.
