The affected by the recent fire Areas of Patras and West Achaia visited PASOK Change President Nikos Androulakis.
The first stop was the monastery of Agios Nikolaos, which suffered damage. Mr Androulakis then talked to the men and women of the 1st Patras Fire Station and expressed his support for their demand for complete granting of the dangerous and unhealthy work allowance. For seasonal firefighters, he recalled that the PASOK In his amendments he had pioneered to resolve their work problem fairly.
In the Old Peristera Community of the community of Agios Stefanos, Mr. Androulakis was received by the complaints of dozens of small farmers who stay outside ELGA compensation and pointed out the need for a special plan to reconstitute the area.
The tour of PASOK’s president ended up at the former Olenia Town Hall where he discussed with the Agricultural Association and the residents.
In his statements, Mr. Androulakis pointed out, among other things:
“The arrogance and ineffectiveness of the New Democracy government is outrageous. They are celebrating, and before the end of the firefighting season, they have been burned for nearly half a million acres and the fire has entered the country’s third -largest neighborhoods. Last year the same happened in municipalities in Athens. Why are they celebrating? Who were raised by the Recovery Fund of the 13 Civil Protection Regional Centers?
There are no responsibilities for government officials, but the volunteers have responsibilities. This is the arrogance of New Democracy.
Our country must acquire modern mechanisms that can be worthy of today’s challenges. In investment mainly in prevention, where we are far behind. In investment in repression and of course with rehabilitation plans.
Thousands of firefighters all over Greece give a daily race. They must finally act their fair request for the dangerous and unhealthy work allowance. We need to solve the issue of seasonal firefighters. They are people who have an experience anymore. The New Democracy government must support our amendment so that we can use them both in winter and summer.
We need another culture, because in another case every year, at such a time, we will cry over the burnt. This painful reality is not worth the Greek people. It is not worth destroying the lives of farmers, breeders and citizens every year.
We can better and we can with a political change against this arrogant and ineffective government. “
The President of PASOK was accompanied by MP Michalis Katrinis, the MP of Argolida and the KTE head of the KTE. Climate crisis Andreas Poulas, the secretary of the Rural Development Division Thanasis Petropoulos, the Secretary of the Environment Division Panagiotis Dimopoulos, the Secretary of the Civil Protection Department Michalis Halaris and local executives.
