Mayors and City Councilorselected to the Central Bodies of Self -Government, participated in a nationwide online meeting at the initiative of the Mayor of Athens and head of the “Self -Government” faction, Harry Duke, In view of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition.

“Every year and worse,” was the common finding of the elected municipalities, as major problems of the institution are exacerbated, such as finances, as well as new ones such as failed government policies on civil protection and critical issues of water management and waste.
Nevertheless, this year, self -government is absent from government plans for TIF.

The “Self -Government” faction calls for an extraordinary convocation of the Board of Directors of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) and a meeting with the Prime Minister, before the TIF, in order to discuss:

1. The strengthening of municipalities from the primary surplus of EUR 7.9 billion.
2. The redesign of fire protection, as well as this year thousands of acres of land, houses and businesses were delivered to flames.
3. Immediate revocation of government plans for water and waste management and conduct a substantial dialogue with local government.

The heretics cannot remain spectators in policies that exacerbate the daily lives of citizens and undermine the efforts of municipalities to act effectively, Haris Doukas pointed out and called on the establishment of a TIF self -governing front.
