The decision of the US Department of Foreign Affairs to revoke the entry permits of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Palestinian Authority officials, with the aim of abolishing their participation in the forthcoming UN General Assembly in New York, constitutes an unacceptable and unacceptable action. Notes PASOK’s Foreign Officer Dimitris Mantzos.

“The United Nations is not an American authority, but an international organization whose functioning cannot be obstructed or limited to US bilateral relations. The UN has taken a special role in the effort to resolve the Palestinian issue for decades, promoting the solution of the two states, according to the relevant resolutions of the Organization, the single and sustainable solution for the peaceful coexistence of the peoples of the region, “he notes and adds:

“Today’s decision is threatening, on the one hand, to hurt the initiative of many states to recognize Palestinian state and to remove the prestige of the Palestinian Authority, as the legal and internationally recognized representation of the Palestinian people, who has been holding an official position in the UN for decades. And all this is happening at a time of cruelty in which everyone – and especially the US – should act towards the end of ethnic cleansing and starting peace talks between Israel and Palestine. ”

Concluding Mr Mantzos stresses that “Greece as a non -permanent member of the UN Security Council must take a distinct position in favor of the unhindered and free participation of all at the General Assembly of the Organization, especially in today’s critical juncture in Palestine and in the Middle East.”
