Greece and Openai are signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim of expanding access to artificial intelligence tools in secondary education and promoting innovation in small businesses, the US artificial intelligence company announced.

According to Openai, the agreement makes Greece one of the first countries to apply the Chatgpt Edu, a specialized version of Chatgpt for academic institutions, the same statement said.

Based on the Memorandum, Greek startups active in the fields of health, climate change, education and public sector will gain access to Openai technology and credit to support their projects.

The Memorandum is signed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the President of the Onassis Foundation Antonis S. Papadimitriou and the head of Openai International Affairs, Chris Lehane.
“From the Academy of Plato to Aristotle High School, Greece is the historic birthplace of Western education,” Lehane said, adding: “Today, with millions of Greeks using Chatgpt on a regular basis, the country again shows its devotion to learning and ideas.”

The deal comes a month after the presentation of the GPT-5, the new OpenAi artificial intelligence model, which is the basis of the popular Chatgpt application and has contributed to the transformation of businesses and culture on a global scale.
