The Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, and the second day of his visit to Washington had a series of high -level meetings.

The minister met with high -ranking US government officials and members of the Congress, first with the US Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy. Mr Kikilias had an excellent meeting with the US minister, stressing that Mr Duffy is an official guest of the Greek government in Greece. The two ministers agreed to continue discussions on bilateral cooperation in the shipbuilding sector.

Subsequently, Mr. Kikilias had a meeting with Thomas Lersten, the debt of Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Development, Energy and the Environment, as well as the head of the State Department’s Economic and Business Office. The focus was the bilateral cooperation with the US in the maritime sector and the enhancement of the exchange of know -how and synergies in an industry where Greek -owned shipping is in the middle. And the extremely powerful and ever -expanding US -Greece partnership was underlined.

The minister then met with a high -ranking delegation under the head of the US State Development Bank Investment Department of US Development Bank (DFC), Conor Coleman. Mr. Kikilia was accompanied by the President and CEO of the Shipyards of the Shipyards of Elefsina, P. Xenokostas. The minister stressed that the US DFC has made a significant investment in Eleusis and that this strategic cooperation is opening even greater prospects for the future. Greece’s role as a reliable partner for US investments was reaffirmed, while participants pledged to continue the discussions.

This was followed by a meeting with the important friend of Greece, MP Gus Bilirakis, with whom they exchanged views on deepening US relations in the shipping and shipbuilding sector. Mr Kikilias thanked him for his consistent and long -term support for all issues concerning our country, as well as for whose initiatives he is steadily leading, in the context of the House of Representatives in favor of Greece.

Equally essential was the meeting with Mr. Jerry Hendrix, master ea. and head of the US Shipbuilding Policy at the White House of Management and Budget Shipbuilding Office. There was in -depth discussion of the possibilities of cooperation in the shipping and shipbuilding sector, as well as the prospects for strengthening cooperation on the direct time.

The Minister met with another Greek -born Congress MP, Jimmy Patronis, who congratulated his timeless support and his initiatives in favor of Greece.

During his stay in Washington, Mr Kikilias also had a meeting with Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was confirmed by the US Senate as a new US ambassador to Greece. The minister congratulated the assumption of his duties and, in a relevant post, emphasized that he looks forward to further strengthening Greece -US cooperation in the maritime sector, a strategic industry where both countries have much to contribute.
