A series of bilateral and tripartite meetings were held in New York, on the sidelines of the high level of the 80th UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis.

Mr. Gerapetritis participated in a trilateral meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Constantine and the Foreign Minister of Egypt Badr Abdelatty.

The focus was on the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, and the prospects for deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, interconnection, immigration and tourism were examined. The three ministers pledged to intensify their coordination to jointly address regional challenges.

In a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Minister of South Sudan, Monday semaya K. kumbathe two sides agreed to further deepen Greece-Nodiou Sudan relations, with a focus on trade, investment and cooperation between diplomatic academies. Mr Gerapetritis highlighted the role of the Greek community in the country, while the South Sudanese of the Foreign Minister invited his Greek counterpart to visit the country. The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments, including peace and stability in Sudan.

Particularly constructive was characterized by the Foreign Minister the meeting of the Greek Minister with the Ecuador Foreign Minister, Gabriela sommerfeldwith emphasis on expanding multiple levels, from bilateral trade and maritime affairs to education and interpersonal exchanges. The two sides have confirmed their public orientation to international law and democratic values.

Finally, Mr. Gerapetritis had a meeting with Costa Rica Foreign Minister, Arnoldo André Tinocoon the occasion of the completion of 60 years of Greece-Kosta Rika. Ways were discussed further strengthening cooperation in the areas of trade, investment and shipping. The two ministers underlined their steady commitment to international law and the contract on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), as well as the importance of dialogue and the multilateral system. It was also agreed to strengthen cooperation within international and regional organizations.
