The SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance’s Political Secretariat has issued a statement today, stressing that Greece is in the seventh year of governance by the New Democracy and the demand for political change is becoming imperative.
“The country is in the seventh year of governance by the ND and the demand for political change is becoming increasingly imperative. The country must immediately turn a page. From Greece to the foreign policy of the predictable and given ally, to move to Greece that exerts an active and multidimensional foreign policy and strengthens its position in the international and European context. From Greece of the cartels and the profanity, to pass on to Greece of social justice and sustainable development. From Greece to the scandals and the violation of the rule of law, to pass through Greece of transparency and democracy. From the Right Greece to move to Progressive Greece proposed by SYRIZA-PS.
These days, at the UN General Assembly, fundamental universal values are once again tested. The Trump speech at the step of the UN General Assembly attempted to sink the world even deeper into the darkness of intolerance and irrationality. The offensive rhetoric for the UN and the EU, the silence on Gaza Genocide, the vulgarities for refugees and immigrants, the questioning of the climate crisis, constitute a comprehensive attack on international law, human rights, and even science itself. At the same time, it is an apostasy of a logic that the law of the powerful can scan any international rule and agreement. Democratic forces around the world must resist. The right side of the story is against tramping.
In this dangerous environment, we had a huge and unprecedented fiasco yesterday. The postponement – just hours before the meeting – of the Greek Prime Minister’s meeting with the Turkish president, at the request of the Turkish side, brings back to the forefront the marginalization of Greece, to which the failed strategy of the given and predictable ally has been led. Obviously, for the otherwise supposedly “isolated” Erdogan, the meeting with Kyriakos Mitsotakis was a minor, which could be bypassed, in view of more important meetings. At the same time, Erdogan’s inflammatory speech, for yet another year, from the step of the General Assembly, who again challenged our sovereign rights in the Aegean and spoke of two states in Cyprus, remains without an answer, with the Greek government remaining a mere observer of Turkish challenges.
At the UN General Assembly, Greece, although a non -permanent member of the Security Council, is not simply marginalized, is on the wrong side of history aligned with the US and Israel. While strong countries of the West such as Canada, Great Britain, Australia, France recognize the state of Palestine, Kyriakos Mitsotakis describes the term “genocide” as “genocide” as opposed to the UN, insists that the state of Palestine does not recognize the state of Palestine.
The position of SYRIZA-PS is clear: ending genocide in Gaza, sanctions on Israel, weapons embargo, recognition of the Palestinian state by the Greek government, here and now, and the solution of two states at the 1967 border, based on UN decisions. The progressive Greece we envision is Greece that is on the right side of history, on the side of international law, peace, humanity, solidarity.
Progressive Greece is Greece of democracy, social justice and sustainable development. This plan was presented by SYRIZA-PS at the 89th TIF. In the face of the Mitsotakis government’s insistence on supporting the cartels, which, through accuracy, to collect billions of billions of indirect taxes every year, to constantly depreciate work, as it does now with the new law and the new law and the new law More than higher incomes, SYRIZA-PS presented a comprehensive alternative. To tackle accuracy, fair taxation, support of workers and pensioners, the welfare state with a focus on health, education and housing policy, regional development, enhancing entrepreneurship and primary sector, private debt regulation, banking and banking.
The SYRIZA-PS plan for a progressive Greece was the result of the cooperation and consultation of the president, the DE KO sectors and the party executives with dozens of productive bodies of the country as well as direct contact and communication with people of work and production in local communities, through an extroverted program.
Democracy and social justice are not understood without a strong rule of law. And unfortunately the rule of law is in hopeless state in Greece, according to the Council of Europe. The crime of Tempi and its cover -up by the Mitsotakis government continues to be an open wound. For the 10th day, Panos Routsi continues his hunger strike to satisfy his demand for his son -in -law in Tempe, to spill plenty of light on all aspects of the tragedy. For the 10th day, justice is deaf and denies the fair request, while the Mitsotakis government says that it does not interfere with justice, but on the other, through vulgar Minister of Justice Floridis, today he took a clear position against Panos Routsi’s request. SYRIZA-PS President Socrates Famellos has been on the side of the hunger strike from the first moment, stressing the support of our party in his law. From the truth there is nothing to fear.
At the same time, the OPEKEPE’s huge scandal is in full swing. It is a blue scandal that bears the signature of the ND government, which has tool an institution of agricultural subsidies in order to reap electoral benefits. Following the July parliamentary coup in which the Mitsotakis government rejected the proposals of the Progressive opposition parties for Mr. Voridis and Avgenakis, which are included in the European Prosecutor’s case file, the Inquiry Committee is developing the next incident. It turns out how hypocritical the government assurances are in the rural world for justice. The Mitsotakis government is indifferent to the world of primary production. Unprecedented and without a plan, he was found in front of the sheep and goats, which destroys livestock production. SYRIZA-PS has presented a comprehensive plan for compensation, treatment and prevention of zoos.
From all of the above it is understood because the demand for political change is a national and social necessity. Progressive Greece is not just a vision, we strive to become a draft progressive governance of the country. And to do this, it is necessary to cooperate the progressive forces. Today’s fragmentation of the progressive space cannot be continued, because from the political impasse the only one who will benefit in the end is the far -right, as we have seen in more and more EU countries in the US. There is no luxury for other delays. Social needs make the demand for the cooperation of progressive forces urgent. SYRIZA-PS had in time talked about the need for a major progressive electoral cooperation. But to have positive – and not the reverse – results need immediate initiatives on three levels, which will build trust relationships and forge durable political ties:
Parliamentary Conduct on the basis of clear program commitments
Programming Dialogue forums of broader forces of progressive space
Cooperation and joint action on movements
In this context, SYRIZA-PS supports and encourages every initiative that comes from under progressive citizens, but will also take initiatives in every corner of the country, so that the case of unity and partnerships becomes the property of all Greek society. SYRIZA-PS is ready and programmatic and politically for co-operation and joint action and centrally and regional.
Only a powerful SYRIZA-PS can act as an accelerator of developments and as a guarantor of a major progressive cooperation that will express a great progressive political and social majority that will win the ND in the next elections. That is why we work daily at all levels, in the House, in the workplaces, in the neighborhoods, in every local community for a powerful, mass and grounded SYRIZA-PS. In this context, party planning is proceeding for the next period:
We are conducting campaign across the country to promote the proposal for the Progressive Greece we presented at the 89th TIF.
The Central Committee meeting will take place on Saturday, October 4. The Central Committee meeting will be designated coordinators/coordinators and alternates/deputy coordinators/coordinators of the Departments of the JU, the organizational office will be designated and the roadmap will be formed for the elections of the regional institutions and the Coordinators of the NEs and the NEs.
In the coming days there will be a nationwide meeting of the NE coordinators with the secretary and the Deputy Secretary of the CC, in order to form the party’s action plans across the country.
SYRIZA-PS supports, participates and invites massively in the great nationwide strike of EU-ADEDY on Wednesday, October 1st, against the new anti-labor bill by Mitsotakis. “
