For “political opportunism” and “spreading false news” regarding the visit of the European Parliament’s references to Tempe, he accused the President of the Greek solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos, the New Democracy MEP and the European People’s Party.
Mr Beleris made it clear that the truth, which Mr. Velopoulos “knows” since the publication of the minutes, is that he and EPP had in time proposed to send the committee to sensitive areas such as Famagusta and the villages of the Greek National Minority.
As he said, “these proposals were not supported by the ECR political group, which belongs to Mr. Velopoulos and his MEPs.”
Responding to the accusations of the president of the Greek solution for his alleged approach to cancel the mission to Tempe, Mr Belleris noted that they were “behind -the -scenes consultations and suspicious alliances with the left” by Mr. Velopoulos’s side.
“Political weather in all its glory,” he commented, accusing Mr Velopoulos of “he does not hesitate to discredit our country abroad.” Concluding, he stressed that he has received the confidence of the members of the Greek National Minority “to defend our national rights” and this continues to do with all his might.
