In “Face to Face» with him Nikos Hatzinikolaouon Thursday night (16/10), the president of the Democracy Movement intervened, Stefanos Kasselakiscommenting on his recent moves Alexis Tsipras and the possibility of a new party being founded by the former prime minister.

To the question of whether the former prime minister could play the role of a “political catalyst” for the unity of the Center-Left forces, Mr. Kasselakis answered as follows:

“Alexis Tsipras will play the role of a “political catalyst” for the unity of the forces of the New Democracy. As one of his advisers said, he will unite New Democracy. It is clear that instead of new materials, new people who will bring fresh ideas we are talking about the past after all. The solution is not going to come from materials of the past. They tried and failed.”

At another point in his posting he stated:

“Mr. Tsipras tells us that he missed active politics. He is a Member of Parliament. He was in the party that delivered at 17% and I, with two splits, kept it at 15%.”

Then, addressing Nikos Hatzinikolaou, he made the following proposal:

“Since Mr. Tsipras has escaped his privileges and his party blinders, let us undertake to organize a dialogue in front of your listeners, to speak openly.”

To the presenter’s remark about whether he means a debate between Kasselakis and Tsipras, the president of the Democracy Movement responded:

“With great pleasure. Since it is about two former presidents of SYRIZA, and what has been done and there is no official opposition at the moment, whenever Alexis wants, we will be happy to speak ideally in an auditorium or a broadcast, where we will answer questions in the presence of an audience”.
