The implementation of the “cutter” which is expected to start from next week puts an end to the tolerance of the “overflow” of meetings in the Parliament.

Speaking to the parliamentary editors o Nikitas Kaklamanis expressed his concern about yesterday’s picture of the Plenarycommenting that “the political leaders had one last chance which they did not take advantage of”emphasizing that the duration of the debate broke every record reaching 8 hours and 35 minutes. It is noted that a similar debate has not exceeded 7 hours and 45 minutes in total duration in recent years.

There was even – according to Mr. Kaklamanis – a political leader (s.s. Zoi Konstantopoulou) who exceeded her time by 137%whereas the most consistent yesterday there were the Dimitris Koutsoubas, Alexis Haritsis and then the Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

In this context, the President of the Parliament announced that next week the Conference will take a decision on the application of the cutterwhich will start operating in the Plenary from following weeki.e. from October 27.

In the first phase, it will apply to the debates of the bills and to the parliamentary control, while the change of the Regulation will follow so that there is absolute application in the special procedures, such as the preliminary meetings, the budget and the motion of censure.

Kaklamanis for Velopoulos: “To protect ourselves from the “bad” moment of ourselves”

At the same time, the President of the Parliament categorically condemned what unfolded yesterday between the President of the Hellenic Solution and Dimitris Kairides, issuing a “yellow card” to Kyriakos Velopoulos.

With his public statement, the President of the Parliament emphasizes: “The speaker’s step in the plenary hall is constructed so that it is far higher than where we step… We must honor his symbolism, but also ourselves. To stand up to it, to protect the parliamentary culture and to resist the “evil” or the “bad” moment of ourselves…”.
