Issues of women’s empowerment, representation, employment and entrepreneurship with an emphasis on regional development and strategies to support women in all aspects of their activities were discussed at the meeting held by the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Domna Michailidou with its president Central Union of Chambers of Greece and president of the Professional Chamber of Piraeus Yannis Voutsinas and with the president of the National Chamber Network of Greek Businesswomen and president of the Chamber of Xanthi Marianthi Malliaroudakis.
They also discussed the leading role of women in the primary sector, business and innovation as well as the advancement of women in leadership positions in politics, science, economy, society.
All three underlined, together, that “women’s presence and equal participation both at the central and regional level is a key component for local development, social cohesion and national progress. We support women and work to abolish the stereotypes that prevent them from developing in a dignified way.”
Mrs. Michailidou also referred to the granting of financial aid to 2,500 three-child and 600 multi-child farm mothers in the context of Program of the Social Character of the Rural Household Account (LAE) of OPECA and noted: “Each of the multi-child farmer mothers, who meet the conditions, will be paid a financial aid of one thousand euros, while the three-child farmer mothers will be paid a financial aid of seven hundred euros. The State practically supports peasant mothers and motherhood and restores chronic injustices”.
