The associate professor of the Democritus University of Thrace, Sotiris Serbos, is appointed advisor to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on foreign policy issues.

S. Serbos was born in Thessaloniki in 1976. An outstanding scholar of Anatolia College, he studied Political Science with an emphasis on International Relations at the University of Macedonia (BA). He followed postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (MSc). Distinguished Scholar of the State Scholarship Foundation. He prepared his doctoral thesis at the University of Athens (University of Athens), with a research field of EU-Turkey relations.

In the period 2014-2015 he was a Fulbright Foundation academic scholar in the field of US-EU relations and the crises in the Eurozone and Ukraine (Johns Hopkins SAIS, EU Center of Excellence University of Pittsburgh). In 2018, in the national campaign to promote Greek-American relations on behalf of the USA, he represented the Education sector.

He worked as a diplomatic advisor to the Parliamentary Group of PASOK-KINAL, as a Scientific Director of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a special advisor at the Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Macedonia – Thrace. He taught Public Administration and Politics at the Hellenic Open University and International Relations at the American College of Thessaloniki. He collaborated with the German political institutions Konrad Adenauer and Friedrich Ebert. It is also active in the field of international consulting services.

His publications focus on the field of foreign policy analysis, with emphasis on Turkey, USA, EU. He intervenes in the public debate through the printed and electronic press.

He is married to Evangelia and the father of Nektarios.
