The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in Egypt, where on Saturday afternoon he will attend the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza. The invitation was made by the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
On Sunday, the prime minister will travel to Nicosia to attend and deliver the memorial speech at the 12th annual memorial service for the former President of the Republic of Cyprus and founder of the Democratic Alarm, Glaukos Clerides.
According to the program of the Maximos Palace, on Monday at 11:30, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel.
On Friday, the prime minister participated in the enthronement ceremony of the new Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine of Sinai, the new Archbishop of Sinai, Faran and Raitho, Mr. Simeon.
The presence of Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the enthronement ceremony of Mr. Simeon highlighted the timeless message for maintaining the unchanged religious character of the Monastery, as a beacon of Orthodoxy with international radiation.
During his objection, the prime minister assured the members of the Sinaitic Brotherhood that Greece remains present and helpful, pointing out that it is national duty to be supported by those who preserve the traditions of the Sinai peninsula.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined the cooperation between the Greek and Egyptian States for the maintenance of the religious character of the Monastery, the protection of its rights and those of the monks. He also stressed that the agreed directions will be brought to the attention of the Sinaitic Brotherhood, which will have the final say.
