N. Iliopoulos in SKAI: We need a political change and a progressive government

by

The need “to remove the Mitsotakis government” stressed the spokesman of SYRIZA-PS Nassos Iliopoulos, speaking to SKAI, in view of party congress starting tomorrowcalling for the creation of “a progressive government”.

He announced the beginning of tomorrow’s conference process at SYRIZA-PS with the speech of Alexis Tsipras and stressed: “The core of our conference is a comprehensive strategy for political change in the country, based on the collaborations we believe in.”

N. Iliopoulos sounded the alarm: “The serious consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine for our economy have not yet come. And unfortunately we can not trust the predictions of the Mitsotakis government for accuracy “.

“The same government told us in September that the electricity increases would be two to three euros, and that we would finish by Christmas. At that time we were already saying that the energy problem would occupy us for at least a year and a half and the cost would exceed 1 billion euros. “Things are even worse today,” he said. “According to the Commission, the average increase in energy prices at retail prices across Europe is 30%. In Greece it is close to 100% “.

N. Iliopoulos then stated: “The SYRIZA-PS government will put a ceiling on the price of electricity. We will immediately increase the basic salary to 800 euros. The last time the SYRIZA government increased it, public revenues also improved. And very important for thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises, the settlement – by writing off a significant part – of pandemic debt. “Finally, we will tax the skyrocketing profits of the big energy companies.”

He commented: “While the ND government is waiting for RAE to tell it about these profits and PPC is increasing the price of its tariffs by 36%, a number of countries – Italy, France, Spain and Germany – have taxed these skyrocketing super profits “.

In the meantime, he blamed the Mitsotakis government for the “health tragedy” of the country: “Unfortunately in the pandemic things went very badly. Since the beginning of the year until today almost 7,500 people have lost their lives and for the government it is as if it has not happened, as if these people are invisible. We have proportionally more losses than Belgium and Italy. This means that the country has experienced a health tragedy. Meanwhile, the situation in hospitals is still not good. Two and a half years of pandemic have left behind a number of other diseases. This pressure is now added to the already existing problems of the NSS “.

“Let us not make the easy mistake again, considering that everything is over with the pandemic, we have already paid dearly for it because the Mitsotakis government never believed and does not believe in the public health system”, concluded Nasos Iliopoulos.
