The bill is changing age restrictions, as it allows older women to try to have children through assisted reproduction.
The same bill that will be submitted to the cabinet by Thanos Plevris, brings changes in the so-called “freezing” of eggs, ie in cryopreservation of eggs.
Among other things, it provides:
Modernizing the framework of medically assisted reproduction and safeguarding women’s rights
- raising the age limit to 54 years
- Egg cryopreservation is allowed not only for medical but also for social reasons, enabling women to keep their eggs and use them whenever they wish
- the required consent of the husband for the cryopreservation of eggs by the woman who wishes it is abolished
- Divorced woman is allowed to use her cryopreserved eggs without the consent of her husband / partner
