Kyriakos Mitsotakis entered the room shortly after 18:00, amid applause and applause from US senators and lawmakers.
The Prime Minister referred to the values of the Republic, which was born in Ancient Greece, from a small community of Greeks who dared to entrust equal political rights to all, 25 centuries ago, as he characteristically stressed.

Mr. Mitsotakis compared the Liberation Struggle with what is happening today in Ukraine, due to the Russian invasion.
“When we see the defenders of Mariupol, we remember the defenders of Messolonghi”, stressed Mr. Mitsotakis and then referred to the historical public of the USA and Greece, the civil war and the external dangers.
“In Europe we believed that a common belief in the rule of law would prevail over war. We ignored the signs. We are disgusted by what is happening in Ukraine, a few kilometers from our border. We have no enmity with the Russian people. But we can not be indifferent in a fight that reminds us too much of our own. We also know what it means to defend his beliefs and to take up arms for your freedom. The first victory is not to give up. To endure. “We stand by Ukraine and in the face of Putin’s attack.”
