THE Petros Efthymiou will be the President of the 3rd Congress of PASOK-Movement for Change after a proposal addressed to him by Nikos Androulakis.
After accepting the honorary proposal of the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Mr. Efthymiou made the following statement:
“I accepted with special honor the proposal of the President of PASOK-Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis to assume the responsibility of the Presidency of the Congress, as this is not a normal and formal party process, but an emblematic starting point for the rebirth of the Greek social democracy. the backbone of the country’s democratic party “.
Petros Efthymiou participated in the organized Resistance against the dictatorship from 1967 to 1974 and in the uprising of the Polytechnic. He is a founding member of PASOK, a member of the first Central Committee in September 1974. He was a special adviser at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Secretary General of the Press and Information and Minister of Education.
He was a Member of the European Parliament, Member of Parliament for Athens II and was elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in the two years 2010-2012. In 2012-13 he was a fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University School of Government.
