Giorgos Karabetsos congratulated AEK for its attitude in the match with Aris. Specifically, the “biceps” did not travel to Thessaloniki due to cases, as a result of which he lost the match on paper, with the president of EOPE thanking Alexis Alexiou and the agents of the department for the observance of the health protocol.
In detail, the announcement:
«The covid-19 pandemic tests our endurance on a personal and social level every day and the sport and sport we serve could not be an exception. Every day agents, athletes, their coaches and associates are called upon to tackle pandemic problems.
In addition to the health footprint and the unpleasant social, psychological and economic consequences, groups are often confronted with the strict rules of health protocols. We faced such a case in the women’s Volley League match between Aris and AEK.
Despite the scoring criticality of the match, the management of AEK faced the issue with realism and bravery, prioritizing the health criteria but also the health of the athletes and the coaching staff.
On this occasion and with the hope that in the future there will be no need to zero in on a team due to covid-19, I feel the need as president of EOPE to publicly congratulate and thank the president of AEK Amateur Alexis Alexiou and the players of the volleyball department of AEK for their responsible and clear attitude.
History is written not only by the titles but also by the important moments that compose our daily course in our sport.
It is for such moments that I am proud to be the leader of the representation of the Greek Volleyball clubs and I wish through our tournaments that we always preserve as a pupil our health and the credibility of our tournaments through the Good Fighting and the faithful observance of the rules » .
