Fernando Alonso has responded to allegations that he had deliberately stopped Sir Lewis Hamilton at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.

Alonso finished the race in 7th place, but at the end of the race the Alpine driver was well behind the pace of the car in front and 6th Lando Norris crossed the finish line 34 seconds ahead of the Spaniards.

Hamilton finished eighth at home and was unable to overtake Alonso in a fast Mercedes due to the narrow and twisty nature of Monaco’s street trucks.

During the race, Hamilton reiterated that Alonso was driving very slowly, and that Major Alpine did this to help teammate Esteban Ocon catch up and overtake Hamilton.

Ocon was previously fined 5 seconds for hitting Hamilton and had to escape the car to complete the points.

However, after the race Alonso denied the claim, saying there was a problem with Hamilton. “That’s not my problem.

At the end of the race, we realized that we were a bit optimistic about doing 33 laps with our yellow car. And I was driving the tires.

“When they told me that Esteban Ocon had a five-second penalty, I started to widen the gap, at which point Hamilton didn’t want to be nervous or fast. He was a bit angry, he thinks.

“Estebus stopped so I was frustrated.”

Ocon fell behind Hamilton, losing 10 points after finishing 12th after finishing the penalty spot.

In general, the race was chaotic, delaying the start by more than an hour until a sudden downpour caused another long stoppage due to a heavy collision between Mick Schumacher and the barrier.

Red Bull’s Sergio Pérez took advantage of Ferrari’s tactical errors to win the race, with Carlos Sainz Jr. and Max Verstappen closing out the podium.

“To be honest, it was a very difficult race. I think it’s very interesting from the outside,” added Alonso.

“In all conditions, I couldn’t race at the beginning. I experienced rain, red flags, poor visibility and very poor traction, intermediate, dry tires and accidents.

We experienced everything, and it was a race prone to mistakes.

Overall, it’s a difficult afternoon not only in terms of management but also in terms of team strategy, so I’m happy with the seventh time. Those are good points. “

As a result, Alonso rose to 13th in the drivers’ ranking and Alpino was ranked 6th in the constructors’ ranking.
