Rafael Nadal defeated Casper Rudd in a row to record his 14th French Open title. [6-3,6-3, 6-0] In Paris this afternoon.
The 36-year-old defeated Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer 22 times at the Grand Slam, marking his 112th French Open victory.
First runner-up Rudy was beaten in his first service game and retired, but Nadaru won the first set 6-3.
The 23-year-old Nadaru defeated Marin Cilic in the semi-finals to become the first Norwegian to compete in the slum unit final. Nadaru was nervous about his lack of experience in the first few finals.
When Nadaru got bloody after the first set, the Spanish tried to take Rudd out early in the second set, giving him three break points in the first game.
However, the Norwegian showed good spiritual stamina to stop his serve and struggle to hold a break point.
Nadaru’s transformation of these break points had a clear impact on his next service game, and the Spaniards felt they missed an opportunity. Whether through mental weakness or a sign of physical fatigue, Nadaru lovingly lost the service game, giving Ludo a break on the third double error of the match.
Not surprisingly, Rudy finished his serve 3-1 but his mistake allowed Nadaru to get back into the set and the Spaniards quickly fell back to equalize the serve.
The service failure clearly affected Rudd, he lost control of the match and Nadaru won five games in a row, winning the second set 6-3.
The third and final set was the easiest of the three, with Nadaru finishing out the win on bagels after Ludo broke three times.
