The IGP-RS (General Institute of Forensics of Rio Grande do Sul) released, this Wednesday (8), a note referring to the expert report of suspected racial slur in the game between Internacional and Corinthians, for the sixth round of the Brazilian Championship. , on the 14th of May.
According to the document, “it is inappropriate for the official criminal expertise of the State to affirm, with responsibility from a procedural and scientific point of view, what was said by the player in the questioned scene”.
On leaving the field, midfielder Edenilson, from Inter, registered a report against Portuguese side Rafael Ramos, from Corinthians, saying he had been called a “monkey” in a ball dispute. Ramos denies. The Portuguese was arrested in flagrante delicto for racial slur and released on bail of R$10,000.
The document was sent to the 2nd Civil Police Precinct of Porto Alegre, which was awaiting the official expertise to forward the investigation opened into the case in the criminal sphere. Corinthians now wants the case to be closed.
According to the note, the Gaucho experts tried to make a lip reading by improving the resolution of 41 “frames” of the bid in which the injury, according to Edenilson, would have occurred. However, the conclusion was that “it is technically unfeasible to locate all the traces that define the sequence of consonants and vowels emitted”.
“Results from the attempt to map what would have been uttered by a questioned speaker [Rafael Ramos] in an image without the associated speech audio (and consequent acoustic signal) would be merely exploratory, representing much more conjecture around possibilities”, says the document.
After the news, Edenilson reacted on two social networks. About a photo of him shirtless and with his fist raised after celebrating a goal in the game after the episode with Ramos, Edenilson wrote: “Wouldn’t they shut us up? They’ve already shut us up. If offended, accept, swallow dry. Pretend you didn’t hear. It’s an unfair fight. It’s an inconclusive fight.” On Instagram, he deleted all his photos and started to identify himself as Macaco Edenilson Andrade dos Santos.
Before the official expertise, Corinthians released, on May 20, the result of a private expertise commissioned by the club to the Curitiba Expertise Center. According to her, Rafael Ramos would have said “hey, fuck”. The main argument is that Ramos’ lips, according to the experts, would not close when uttering the word, which would be essential for speaking words with “m”, as in “monkey”.
The two players have already testified on the case in the Sports Court. Rafael Ramos, on May 31, and Edenilson, on Monday (6), maintained their versions to the STJD (Superior Court of Sports Justice). Both statements were collected at the headquarters of the TJD-SP (São Paulo Court of Sports Justice), located within the FPP (São Paulo Football Federation).
According to an interview with the auditor-rapporteur of the case at the STJD, Paulo Feuz, to the GE website, the court must hire an independent expert to analyze the episode within an estimated period of 35 days. On the occasion of Ramos’ testimony, a recording was made of the Corinthians player uttering the phrase that Edenilson says he heard when comparing the images. The court ruled out a confrontation between the two players.
