Louis van Gaal says Julian Timber is enough to play for Manchester United but advises the Dutch not to leave Ajax this summer.
Central defender Timber is associated with a move to the Red Devils, and Erik Ten Hag will join a promising 20-year-old at Old Trafford.
However, former United manager and current Dutch manager Van Gaal said Timber should take action in the next transfer window as his place in the Dutch World Cup squad is at stake.
“I think he’s a player [Timber’s] “Quality can be played in the Premier League,” Van Gaal told a news conference ahead of the Dutch league match against Wales on Wednesday.
‘No problem. But if you have to take that step now… that’s another matter.
“I do not think so [to move to United].. He needs to play.
He was a striker for Ajax, but it is unclear how many Timbers featured in United’s first team, as Ten Hag is talented and would probably prefer the experience of the early Raphaël Varane and Harry Maguire… Next season.
At the same time, the position of the defenders of the Dutch team is not guaranteed. Orange is equipped with high-quality central defenders like Virgil van Dijk, Mathis Deligut, Nathan Aké and Stephen Defender.
Van Gaal also commented on Ten Hag’s appointment as Red Devils manager, apparently changing his tune slightly, having previously warned his compatriots to remove Old Trafford from the paddy field.
He used to call United a “commercial club”, but the change in the club’s hierarchy suggests that Ten Hag is better than Van Gaal during the two seasons in Manchester.
‘I spoke with him [Ten Hag] “But now we have new leadership,” he added.
‘[Before] He was [Ed] Woodward, now Richard Arnold. This can make a difference. Eric is confident. Who say? “
