Max Verstappen has said he has no plans to take revenge at this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix after being brutally denied victory in Baku last season.

At last year’s Baku City Circle, one of the tires caught in the high-speed main lane, causing Red Bull to hit the wall with five laps remaining and the Dutch comfortably leading the race.

Verstappen is now determined to correct this mistake and win his first race at the track, which has become famous for its chaotic action and big crashes.

“I really want to go back to Baku. The business has not been completed since last year,” he won the world championship.

This is a tough road with big braking zones and tight jogging, and it can be difficult to find the right strut for your car in terms of ensuring the correct wing level.

“I was a bit short so it would be interesting to see if I could get a lap to improve qualifying,” he said.

Verstappen leads Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the 2022 standings, especially battling teammate Sergio Perez, who has a good record in the circle, including winning the tournament last year, and will face fierce competition in Baku.

The Mexican won the previous race in Monaco, and now he suddenly finds himself in the title race and confident of his own opportunity this weekend.

He states: “Today I think I am in the best moment of my career. I am always at the helm of a team that wants perfection. This is ideal for me and for all the drivers.”

“The battle for the championship is very tense, so we have to be fully focused. The first race with the team in Baku last season was very special and brought great joy.

“I like the street lanes because the drivers can really make a difference. Of course, trying to push the limits is easy to make mistakes, but after all, it’s a competitive tenth for you. Da.”
