I faced many challenges in my boxing career. But fortunately, sharing and sharing my story did not affect my sports life.

The most unpleasant thing was the female boxer. My sexuality has never been a great sport. She wasn’t a gay female boxer, she was a female boxer, so I raised my eyebrows.

It has never been recognized or noticed. The battle as a woman was the biggest battle. I had my first fight as an amateur at 13 and had to wait another four years to fight again. It wasn’t easy, but not because I was gay, but because I was a woman.

Boxing is one of the sports that includes race, color, religion and sexuality. Anyone can go to the gym and put on gloves. This is one of the sports that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to participate in.

When I started, my hero was Muhammad Ali. I grew up watching his rehearsals, I won Olympic gold medals, I turned pro, I became a champion, and I became one of the greatest athletes of all time.

It was incredible that it was a ring and it changed the lives of many. Boxing has always been an all-round sport: there are no limits as long as you do the work.

In the old days, I think there was a misunderstanding that gays didn’t like sports. interesting. But in boxing, this is not really what I have known. It was always very inclusive.

Achievements of Nicola Adams Sports

  • In 2001 she became the first female boxer to represent Great Britain, and two years later she became British amateur champion.
  • She became the first British boxer to win a silver medal at the 2007 European Boxing Championships.
He won the World Cup Silver in 2008 and 2010 before winning European Gold in 2011.
  • On behalf of the London GB team in 2012, he defeated the world number one Renkankan and won the gold medal. She became the first woman to win a gold medal in this sport.
  • He won gold in an independent game in 2014.
  • Returning to the 2016 Rio Olympics, she defended the title by defeating France’s Sarah Uramon.
  • In 2017, she turned professional under Frank Warren and became the first woman to join the British promotion Fighter Stables.
  • After three wins, she defeated former world champion Isabel Milano in 2018 for a temporary WBO title.
  • She became a full-fledged WBO champion in 2019 before defending her title in the first women’s battle with Maria Salina at the Royal Albert Hall.
  • In 2019 he announced his retirement from boxing after suffering an eye injury from Salina.

Of course, in other sports, there is still a way to go. The fact that there has only been one openly gay person in the UK for the last three decades shows how scared people are of wanting to be themselves.

It shows that there is a long way to go to make the people they want to be so that they are not afraid. We have been on this planet for such a short time. Imagine being able to be yourself while you are actually here. I couldn’t think of anything worse than this.

Fortunately, I did not experience much discrimination during my sports journey, I found an acceptable environment for boxing. It was not a matter of people, I was just a boxer.

I think people have helped me. It was fine, but I didn’t need it. I was happy. And I think that should be true for everyone, right?

I found peace in the gym and the ring, this is a home for so many people.
