The PGA Tour prevented rebel golfers from participating in the LIV Golf Invitational Series.
This week Dustin Johnson, Phil Michelson, Sergio Garcia and others will perform in the first part of a breakaway tour at the Centurion Club in St Albans.
The stars refused to participate in the tournament, but decided to participate without the blessing of the PGA Tour.
In response, the PGA Tour stopped the dropouts, saying that those who quit would not be invited to sponsor future tournaments.
In a letter to members of the PGA Tour, CEO Jay Monahan said:
“Concurrent with the adoption of this Memorandum, players (listed below) will be notified that they will no longer be able to participate in PGA Tour tournament play, including the Presidents Cup.
This also applies to all PGA Tour approved tours: Korn/Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Champions, PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latin America.
As you know, the players listed below have not received the required dispute information and media rights information or have not requested any releases. Participation in the Saudi Golf League/LIV Golf Event also violates the tournament rules.
“The same fate befalls other players participating in upcoming Saudi Golf League events in violation of our rules.”
LIV Golf has also announced the suspension of the PGA Tour decision for 17 members.
It is concerning that the tour, which is an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for golfers to play, is an organization that blocks golfers. Of course, this is not the last word on this topic. The free agency era has begun because we are proud to have players from all disciplines in London and beyond. “
