Manchester City legend Vincent Company says it’s an “honour” to join Burnley after being appointed as the champion club’s new manager.

The company is considered one of the Premier League’s greatest defenders and captains, leading Manchester City to four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and two FA Cups.

After retiring in 2020, the company took over Anderlecht in the summer of 2020, leading the Belgian club to fourth place in his first season as manager.

Under the leadership of the company, Anderlecht finished third last season and reached the final of the Belgian Cup. This secured the European ratings.

He has participated in Manchester City more than 350 times and has become a legend of the Belgian national team. He played 89 matches and the team reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.

“Burnley Football Club is a truly historic British team and I am extremely honored to have been appointed first team manager,” he said. “I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead.

When I return to Turf Moor I look forward to working with the players to create a positive and winning team for the fans.

“I was impressed by the board’s vision of a club that suits me. I look forward to playing my part going into the important season.”

The company leads the Burnley side, which spent six years in the Premier League before being relegated to the championship last season.

Burnley chairman Alan Pace said:

Vincent is a proven leader and was very impressed with his thoughts on Burnley Football Club, their drive for success and their return to the Premier League.

“Vincent was impressed with his philosophy, approach and club ambitions, displaying his impressive qualifications to lead one of Belgium’s biggest teams to last season’s European football and cup finals.”
