Bologna’s new sporting director, who is helping Arsenal pursue Aaron Hickey, has confirmed he may decide to pay the Scottish defender’s money.

Lead shooter Mikel Arteta wants to buy a new left wing this summer, and Hicky has been designated as his top target.

Hicky, who earned €1.5m from Hearts in 2020, triumphed in Bologna’s Serie A and played 48 times for Italian clubs last season.

Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Brentford are also interested in signing Hicky, a 20-year-old who is currently around 21m tall.

Bologna boss Marco Di Vaio gives Arsenal and Brentford hope of securing Hicky’s signature, admitting that defenders can be “sacrificed” when the club tries to raise money.

“He may be one of the people we can sacrifice, but if we don’t get enough offers, he will probably stay another year,” Di Vaio told a news conference.

We played well and we have the potential to score 50 points or more. [next season].. We need to be good at financing new signings and finding new players.

With the right steps, you can replace them and keep the rest.

Arteta decided to buy a new left foot after being surprised by Nunotavares’ performance when the Portuguese star replaced the injured Kierantierry last season.

The Arsenal manager also wants to sign a new striker to replace the duo of Pierre-Emerick Obameyan and Alexandre Lacazette, and the new central midfielder.

Last month, “Metope” legend Nigel Winterburn supported his former club’s move to Hicky, saying the signing was “in line with the bill”.

“This is a signing in line with the Arsenal bill that I have talked about over and over again, bringing in young players and training them,” Winterburn said. Free SuperTips ..

“Of course left and right defenders are positions that require deep reinforcement and we want players to challenge the first-choice player. If the foam falls off or you get injured, stay there until the foam falls off. Stay.

“You want this competition for your team placement. I haven’t seen their masses in just a few excerpts, but in some reports I’ve read.

One of his former coaches suggests that he looks a bit like Philipp Lahm, so if so, he’ll be a perfect addition to the team.

He’s only 19 years old, so he’s young, but he already has a lot of experience and he’s amazing. This is in perfect agreement with the model Arsenal ran this season and looks to continue this model next season.

Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season, two points behind north London rival Tottenham. They will launch the 2022-23 campaign with a trip to Crystal Palace on August 5.
