Former England soccer player and matchday host Gary Lineker has said he was the victim of racist abuse as a child and as a soccer player.
His 61-year-old Caucasian “dark skin” means he was racially abused by both schoolchildren and celebrities in the sports industry.
During his career at Lineker, he has spent spells at clubs including Everton, FC Barcelona and native Leicester City. The BBC Sports Personality of the Year presenter claims his youth and playing days were subjected to racist abuse.
Lineker spoke about her early life, saying her classmates ridiculed her skin tone.
“If I’m not good at sports, life would be a lot different for me,” Lineker told a high-performance podcast founded and hosted by BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey.

The phrase “English when they come” has been criticized by some people online who believe that Linker equates English with whiteness.
Lineker also did not name the person who claimed to have been insulted, but said he had been racially insulted at football.
